Description
Vatican philately pays tribute to the 100 years of service of the “Santa Marta” Pediatric Dispensary, established on 8 May 1922 with the blessing of Pope Pius XI and entrusted to the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul who work at Santa Marta in the Vatican. The service involves the collaboration of doctors volunteering from the Bambino Gesù Hospital, the Saints Peter and Paul Association, private individuals and other Roman health facilities. Thanks to the ongoing and appreciated commitment of lay volunteers, the Dispensary offers a place for listening, health and psychological care, support for families of all backgrounds, just as Fratelli Tutti teaches. The postage stamp is based on a design by artist Daniela Fusco, presented in a miniature sheet of six, showing the Holy Father together with children as a way to give witness to the service of assistance provided by the Dispensary, represented by the image of a Sister belonging to the Daughters of Charity.
