Description
The issue of a commemorative postage stamp of Father Paolo Manna, whose 150th birthday falls this year, is intended to be both a sign of gratitude for the work carried out by the confreres of the Pontifical Institute for the Foreign Missions serving throughout the world, as well as an encouragement for all people of good will to persevere in their commitment of protecting and promoting human and Christian values that make humanity more united and fraternal. Father Manna passionately dedicated his entire life to the missions, founding the Pontifical Missionary Union of the Clergy. John Paul II beatified him on 4 November 2001. Summing up his ministry, Fr. Manna’s main motto was “All the Church for all the World!” implying that missionary work should be entrusted not only to missionaries but to the whole People of God.
