Description
Exactly 400 years have gone by since the Embassy of Spain to the Holy See established its premises in the Palace of Spain, located at Rome’s Piazza di Spagna square, becoming the oldest permanent diplomatic headquarters. The history of the Embassy to the Holy See is also the history of diplomatic relations between Spain and the Papal States. The stamp issued for the occasion by Vatican City’s Postal and Philatelic Service comes in a miniature sheet of five stamps, featuring a painting of the impressive Palace by Giovanni Paolo Pannini made in 1727, displayed in Apsley House in London. The official logo designed by the Embassy for the anniversary-related celebrations appears next to the title of the stamp issue.
