Description
The Vatican celebrates the 30th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Mexico with a joint stamp issue between the Vatican and Mexico. On 21 September 1992 a joint note from Mexico’s Secretariat of Foreign Affairs and the Holy See’s Secretariat of State announced the reconciliation that had taken place, made possible through the realization of the central and foundational role that the religious dimension carries in the life of the Mexican nation. Mexico has experienced the paradox of being a country of strong religious traditions and convictions, but having one of the most anticlerical constitutions in modern history. The stamp produced for the anniversary is designed by Patrizio Daniele and depicts the national coat of arms of the two states united in this important project with the respective national colours appearing in the background.
