Step 1 — Use the Secure VPS Website (HTTPS)

Chrome will not send secure login cookies if you visit the site using http://. Always use the secure version:

If you see http:// in the address bar, change it to https://.

Step 2 — Allow Cookies for VPS

Chrome may block cookies if the browser is set to block third‑party cookies or if site-specific permissions were changed.

Chrome → Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and Other Site Data

Make sure the following are enabled:

• Allow all cookies (recommended)
• OR Block third‑party cookies (acceptable)

Make sure the following are disabled:

• Block all cookies
• Clear cookies and site data when you close all windows

If Chrome is set to clear cookies on exit, it may also block new cookies from being created.

Step 3 — Check Site-Specific Cookie Permissions

Chrome allows you to block cookies for individual websites. If VPS was accidentally blocked:

Chrome → Settings → Privacy and Security → Site Settings → Cookies and Site Data

Scroll down to:

Sites that can always use cookies

Add:

[*.]vaticanstamps.org

This ensures Chrome always accepts VPS login cookies.

Step 4 — Turn Off Chrome Incognito Mode

Chrome Incognito mode blocks persistent cookies. This causes the exact failure your diagnostic page may show:

FAIL — Your browser is blocking VPS login cookies.

To fix this:

Close all Incognito windows (they have a dark theme and an “Incognito” icon).

Step 5 — Turn Off “Enhanced Safe Browsing”

Chrome’s “Enhanced Safe Browsing” mode can block secure cookies during redirects or login transitions.

Chrome → Settings → Privacy and Security → Safe Browsing

Select:

Standard Protection

NOT:

Enhanced Protection

Step 6 — Make Sure the Domain Matches Exactly

Chrome is strict about cookie domains. VPS login cookies only work on:

https://vaticanstamps.org

They will not work on:

• http://vaticanstamps.org
• https://www.vaticanstamps.org
• http://vaticanstamp.org (missing “s”)
• Old bookmarks pointing to outdated URLs

Step 7 — macOS Chrome Users: Check “Prevent Cross-Site Tracking”

On macOS, Chrome respects certain system-level privacy settings. If Safari’s “Prevent cross-site tracking” is enabled at the OS level, Chrome may inherit similar restrictions.

Check macOS system settings:

System Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking

Make sure:

Allow cross-site tracking

is enabled.

Step 8 — Run the VPS Diagnostic Test

After adjusting Chrome settings, run the diagnostic test again:
