The World Meeting of Families is a gathering of the Roman Catholic Church that has occurred every three years since 1994. It is organized by the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, which promotes the pastoral care of families, protects their rights and dignity in the Church and in civil society, so that they may ever be more able to fulfill their duties. It is the biggest gathering of Catholic families in the world. “The Family: Work and Celebration” was the theme of the 7th World Meeting of Families. The celebration took place from 30 May - 3 June 2012 in Milan, Italy. The UFN brochure stated, "The idea is to promote a reflection on the different aspects of life in modern society, seeking compatibility between work and family." The meeting's website provided a summary of activities culminating in celebration of Mass by Pope Benedict XVI on Sunday 3 June, after which he shared lunch with the organizers. The €1,50 stamp issued to commemorate the 7th World Meeting of Families was designed by artist Daniels Longo. It depicts a family in front of Duomo di Milano (Milan's Cathedral). The stamps were printed in sheets of 10.
