



The apostolic journeys of Pope Francis in 2014 included S Korea, Albania, Turkey, Strasbourg, France and Israel. Four single stamps feature the locations visited by Pope Francis in 2014. Pope Francis visited the 6th annual Youth Day in the Diocese of Daejon, S Korea on 13-18 August. A €2,30 stamp features the Blue House, the presidential residence. A €0,95 issue marks the Pope's visit to Albania on 21 September and features the presidential palace in Tirana, the capital city. On 25 November, Francis visited the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France. The visit is marked by a €0,95 stamp which includes the European Parliament building. A €0,95 stamp commemorates the pope's visit to Turkey on 28-30 November and depicts the Blue Mosque of Istanbul. The values of the stamps represent the postal rate to send a first step letter to an address in the location visited. 150,000 stamps were printed in sheets of 10.
The Pope visited Israel on 24-26 May. A €3,00 souvenir sheet, a joint issue with Israel, features a panoramic view of the city of Jerusalem, with the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary as a feature. The €3,00 single stamp is a photo of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher also in Jerusalem. 100,000 souvenir sheets were printed.
