90th Birthday

Josef Aloisius Ratzinger, now Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI (2005-2013), was born 16 April 2017 and celebrated his 90th birthday at his residence, the monastery of Mater Ecclesiae, located in the gardens of the Vatican City. Daniela Longo designed the €0,95 stamp which was issued in a miniature sheet of four stamps. The stamp depicts the Pope in prayer with a rosary. The miniature sheet includes an image of Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI at the opening of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy (8 December 2015).
