The FAO (Food and Agricultural Organization) of the United Nations (based in Rome... with field offices in 130 countries) is a specialized agency that deals with international issues surrounding hunger, nutrition, and food security. The United Nations proclaimed 2020 as the International Year of Plant Health. The project is described by the UN as "...a once in a lifetime opportunity to raise global awareness on how protecting plant health can help end hunger, reduce poverty, protect the environment, and boost economic development." Among the key messages of the Plant Health Year is to keep plants healthy to prevent hunger and to meet sustainable development goals, ensure safety in bringing plants across borders, as well as safe trading of plants according to standards, maintaining healthy plants to protect the environment, investing in research and development, and developing early warning systems to protect plant health. The €1,15 stamp depicts Pope Francis and Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of all Armenians, Karekin II, sprinkling water over a grapevine plant, a photo from the pope's visit to Armenia in 2017. The stamp is printed in sheets of ten.
