Milan artist Marco Ventura designed the 2020 €2,40 aerogramme. The cachet honors those who care for people who have contracted the COVID-19 virus, a doctor, nurse, and priest at the bedside of an ill person. The postal indicia is an image of the virus molecules being neutralized by a hoped-for vaccine. Marco Ventura's sketches are presented and his commentary about preparation for the aerogramme design are included in a separate article in the Volume: 68 Issue: 386 Page: 46-47 issue of Vatican Notes. The inspiration behind the aerogramme is said to be Pope Francis' homily on Palm Sunday (5 April) when he said, "...the real heroes, who come to light these days: they are not the ones that have fame, money and success, but those who give themselves to serve others."
