First Quarter 2025
Vatican Stamps Announced

VPS Website Team

The Vatican Post Office released an announcement on February 27 regarding the stamps being issued for the first quarter of 2025.

In addition to displaying the special post mark for the World Day of Peace on January 1, 2025, the items announced in the release are the following:

  • Four stamps and special post mark for the "Pontificate of Pope Francis 2025"
  • Four stamps and special post mark for the "Holy Year 2025"
  • One stamp and special post mark for "Easter of Resurrection 2025"
  • One stamp and special post mark honoring "Witnesses of Hope: Blessed Rosario Livatino"
  • One stamp and special post mark commemorating the "Fourth centenary of the foundation of the Congregation of the Mission"
  • The 2025 postal envelop, which pictures Pope Francis opening the Holy Door to inaugurate the Jubilee Year of 2025 (and special postmark)

The announcement can be found by clicking on this link: Announcements

When you click on the link, you will be brought to a page entitled: "Announcements of new stamp issues and marcophily", dated September 17, 2018. Scroll down the page a bit until you find the heading "Ordinary Cancellations". Just below that you will find the heading "ALLEGATI" ("Attachments"), with two PDF files:

  • ARCHIVIO OBLITERAZIONI - ANNO 2025 ("Archive of Obligations--Year 2025")
  • ARCHIVIO COMUNICATI - ANNO 2025 ("Archive of Communications--Year 2025").

Click on either of the two files to bring you to the documents. Although presented in Italian, color images of the new stamps as well as images of the post marks are shown in each of the documents.

In addition, there are archived files for announcements and communications from past years (going back to 2001). This archive is also accessible from the VPS Website homepage (on the gold banner, click "Resources", then "Postal Announcements" from the drop-down).

As of this writing yesterday afternoon, the CFN website is still down for "site maintenance", so the question remains regarding the purchase of these issues (as well as the products released in late 2024). But seeing the new stamps brings us (hopefully) one step closer to a return to normal operations and a means for foreign collectors to acquire stamps from Vatican City. The Website team will be sure to keep you informed.
