On Tuesday, May 20, the Vatican State website (www.vaticanstate.va) dropped the announcement of a new website for the Vatican Postal and Philatelic Service. The website is: A quick look at the site reveals a much nicer presentation of material and, in some cases, a more transparent means of accessing information on the Vatican Post Office and the stamps of Vatican City than in the past. It still requires a bit of hunting around to find things, but hopefully navigating around the site will become easier with some practice. It should be noted that this is not the site for ordering stamps—that will continue to be www.cfn.va/en. The announcement notes that the new CFN website will launch in July. Progress has been slow with respect to Vatican City philately over the last eight months, but the launch of the new website and the anticipated resumption of stamp sales in July reveals a long-awaited light at the end of the tunnel.
