A formal letter was mailed this week to Sr. Raffaella Petrini, President of the Pontifical Commission for Vatican City, with copies sent to the Directors of the Vatican Post Office and CFN. The letter respectfully requests a revision to current Vatican postal policy—specifically, to allow overseas stamp collectors the opportunity to purchase special postmarked stamped covers. I emphasized that as recently as October 2024, prior to the postal sales shutdown, we had been able to purchase Vatican special postmarked stamped covers by mail without restriction. With this mailing, my personal advocacy is complete. However, I strongly encourage fellow Vatican Philatelic Society members to amplify the request by sending their own letters. These commemorative items carry deep historical and spiritual significance, and I believe they should be accessible to Vatican stamp collectors around the world. Collective action could help ensure that Vatican philately becomes more globally inclusive and accessible. May our collection be filled with Vatican stamps, special postmarked covers, and folders. May our philatelic study bring us wisdom, peace, and joy. May Abraham help to wisely ask Vatican Postal Officials for the collecting help we need. May Saint Catherine help us communicate through letter writing skills. May Saint Jude aid us in finding Vatican stamps, postmarked covers, and folders for our collections. May Archangel Gabriel help us write and receive letters and emails that express our collecting needs. May we commonly share with our stamp collecting colleagues. May we use stamp collecting wisely to find our way to Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. -- Amen |
