Vatican City Announces Stamps
For Fourth Quarter 2025

Lou Giorgetti

Hot on the heels of a new stamp released last Friday (the previously-unannounced stamp for the rededication of the Basilica of Saint Benedict of Norcia), the Vatican Post Office issued a series of press releases yesterday for the latest stamps and postal items being produced for the fourth quarter of 2025. The new items being released today are:

  • Christmas 2025
  • Saint Kateri Tekakwitha
  • Proclamation of Saint John Henry Newman as Doctor of the Church (previously unannounced)
  • 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations with Indonesia (previously unannounced)
  • 2024 Travels of Pope Francis
  • Aerogramme: Centennial of the Canonization of Saint Teresa of Lisieux
  • Postal cards: 550th anniversary of the birth of Michelangelo

As noted above, two of the new stamps were not listed on the Philatelic Program for 2025: the stamps for Saint John Henry Newman and Indonesia. In addition, one stamp on the 2025 program have yet to be released: the “Centenary of the Foundation of the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology” (a joint issue with Luxembourg). It is unclear as to whether the stamp has been delayed or eliminated from this year’s program.
