More on Pope Leo's Travel Plans

Lou Giorgetti

Yesterday's Daily Email took a look at Pope Leo XIV's travel plans for 2026. Trips to France, Spain and Africa are pretty certain during the first half of the year, and speculation abounded regarding a visit to the United States.

Well, a report that surfaced late on Sunday put those rumors to rest. In a fairly direct announcement, Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni stated: “No trip to the U.S. is expected in 2026.” The news dashed the hopes of a visit by the pontiff this year, which would have coincided with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. A visit to the United Nation in the fall had also been rumored, but that appears to have been squashed by Bruni's statement.

Also, the EWTN article in the References made note of the possibility of the country of Cameroon being added to the agenda of the pope's trip to Africa this spring, although that has not been confirmed.
