Vatican City's Easter 2026 stamp

The Start of Holy Week

Pope Leo XIV began a busy nine day stretch over the weekend, as he made a one-day apostolic journey to the Principality of Monaco on Saturday, and returned to the Vatican to celebrate Palm Sunday in Saint Peter’s Square. As the Church embarks on Holy Week, the Pope will participate in no less than seven events, culminating in Easter Sunday Mass at the Vatican, followed by his “Urbi et Orbi” (“To the city and to the world") proclamation. On Easter Monday (also called “Monday of the Angel”), Pope Leo will conclude the Easter celebration by praying the Regina Caeli from a window at the Apostolic Palace, overlooking Saint Peter's Square.
