New Vatican Stamps Released

Lou Giorgetti

Perhaps to coincide with the first anniversary of the election of Pope Leo XIV, the latest batch of Vatican City stamps was issued yesterday, May 8, a bit earlier in the month than expected. In press releases dated May 6, Vatican Post announced the following four stamps as part of the quarterly issue:

  • 40th Anniversary of the Encyclical "Dominunm et Vivificantem": a souvenir sheet with a depiction of Pentecost
  • Europa 2026: the stamp features the common design being used by all participating countries for the 70th anniversary of the first Europa stamps
  • Third Centenary of the Birth of Saint Gerardo Maiella
  • First anniversary of the election of Pope Leo XIV: as a note, this stamp was initially reported as a joint issue with Italy in the 2026 Philatelic Programme from Vatican Post. However, there was no Pope Leo stamp issued by Italy yesterday, so it remains to be seen if a joint stamp will be issued.

These stamps are in addition to the stamp for the 325th anniversary of the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy, released on April 25.

As of this writing, none of the stamps listed have appeared on the CFN website for purchase, which is not unusual. We are also watching for the 2025 Vatican Stamp Yearbook, which has apparently been delayed due to production issues.
