The strength and vitality of our Society come from its active and engaged members. Like most philatelic organizations, the VPS suffers from attrition each year. The Society has attempted to “get the word out” over the last couple of years at presentations at the Spellman Museum and Boston 2026, as well as through other efforts, to help fellow collectors learn about the benefits of VPS membership. Working with the American Philatelic Society (APS), VPS recently embarked on a direct mail campaign targeting APS members who have expressed an interest in Vatican City philately. Our thanks go to Nora DeGeorge at APS for helping us in this effort to attract potential new members. To reciprocate, we would like to make our members aware of APS’s current campaign directed towards members of its affiliate societies. APS is offering a $10 discount off the first-year membership fee for society members. This is a great opportunity to join APS, if you are not already a member. To get a copy of the APS membership application form, which indicates that you are a VPS member entitled to the promotional discount, click on this LINK: All societies need to make the effort to promote themselves and the benefits of membership in their groups. That effort needs to start with its members, who are their best ambassadors. So, talk up VPS when you have a captive audience: you never know if there are interested collectors unless you ask! Thanks for "spreading the word"—we are excited and grateful to welcome new members to the Vatican Philatelic Society. |
