The 389th issue of Vatican Notes was mailed to VPS members in early October of 2021. This issue brings to you a new and unique publishing initiative for the Vatican Notes. Member John Yopp of Kentucky has worked to produce a remarkable five-part series entitled Collecting the Postal History of the Pontifical State in the Period of the Risorgimento, 1796-1870. The full series will be published on the VPS website and available to all members. (See the Pontificate State link on the Members Page) However, this issue also contains a separate summary article that provides a general introduction to the series. 
This issue also brings to you another Vatican City postal history article focusing on a specific foreign destination. This time, both 
Jim and Norwegian member Arve Vollo co-author an article on 
Vatican postal history to Norway. Michael Lamothe provides us 
with an interesting historical article focusing on FDCs issued for 
the 1979 stamp commemorating St. Basil the Great.
