I had similar problems. A couple of weeks ago, I ordered some religious stamps from Kiev, Ukraine. They came thru, no problems. Why of all countries, being constantly bombed, I received my stamps! We need to fix this tariff problem quickly.
It will be interesting to see if my letter to the Vatican, concerning special post marks, is answered. If so, I’ll let everybody know.

Last month, I ordered 3 covers, all ordered separately, from an Italian dealer who shipped post. Two of them were returned to sender, they're working now on shipping them with a courier like FedEx. The other though managed to clear customs and is now in NY on its way to CA. Seems at the moment like there isn't a rhyme or a reason for why some things clear customs and others don't.

This morning, I mailed my letter to the Vatican requesting that the Vatican Post Office continue providing special cancellations for First Day Covers.
We should all express In writing our concern with the Vatican Post Office eliminating this service.

With the US tariff situation, I was unable to get stamps I ordered from an Italian dealer. Twice the dealer attempted to send the stamps to me and they were returned to the dealer. The dealer mentioned that the tariffs imposed were more costly than the stamps ordered.
So, I guess even if we could get FDCs from the Vatican Post Office, the tariff cost to the United States would be tremendous. TERRIBLE !!!!!!!!!

Could we possibly see a “sample letter” to address our request to the Vatican? This might make it easier than to draft our own.

Issue Charlie reported with faint font on VPS robot page has been fixed.
As overseas Vatican stamp collectors we need the ability to purchase special postmarked (first-day) stamped cover and stamp folders as issued by the Vatican Post Office! I strongly encourage fellow Vatican Philatelic Society members to amplify my written request by sending their own letters. These commemorative items carry deep historical and spiritual significance, and I believe they should be accessible to Vatican stamp collectors around the world.
Collective action could help ensure that Vatican philately becomes more globally inclusive and accessible. The addresses to write are:
Sr. Raffaella Petrini
President
Pontifical Commission for Vatican City
00120 VATICAN CITY
Europe
Direttore
Servizio Poste E Filatellia
00120 VATICAN CITY

Direttore

Today, I read the “Robot” page. However, the page is so faint, it’s hard to read. Anybody else having this problem?

Because of our tariff problems, millions of parcels per day addressed to the US are being held up. Some dealers will no longer ship to the US.
This has a major impact esp for small businesses in the US who order items from foreign countries.
So, us not being able to obtain Vatican stamps is a minor problem when considering the millions of shipments to the US have been stopped.
Oh my, I need a Martini right now.

I think ordering from foreign dealers is going to be dicey for a while. One dealer in Holland I have dealt with in the past with very reliable and fast deliveries now shows "Next Day UPS Shipping", with delivery dates in OCTOBER. Vatican CFN deliveries promised in "60-90 days". And communications with CFN very unreliable when asking for information. Very discouraging for Vatican collectors. (09/11/2025 - LFG)
