The UFN released a set of four stamps marking the pontificate of Pope Francis, continuing an annual practice begun during the pontificate of Benedict XVI. Each of the stamps consists of photographs of Pope Francis, two from 2013 and two from 2014. The stamps were issued in varying values in sheets of ten. The stamp is inscribed in Latin with
Franciscvs Anne Domini MMXV,
Francis in the Year of our Lord 2015. It also includes the papal arms.
The €0,80 stamp is a photo taken at the General Audience on 21 May 2014, during which the Pope thanked the Holy Spirit for the gift of knowledge to appreciate the greatness and love of God, and that knowledge leads to understanding nature and the universe. The €0,95 stamp depicts the Holy Father holding an infant during the 4 June 2014 General Audience. The €2,30 stamp is based upon a 29 June 2014 photo taken during the Feast of Saints Peter & Paul and the €3,00 value is from the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady, 15 August 2013.
