Stamps marking the pontificate of Pope Francis for 2017 contain the usual four values for 20-gram letters to Italy (Zone 1), to Europe and the Mediterranean Basin (Zone 2), to Africa, Asia, and America (Zone 3), and to Oceania (Zone 4). The number of stamps per sheet is not specified. 
The stamps depict Pope Francis wearing vestments of three liturgical seasons. The image for the €0.95 value is from Pentecost on 8 June 2014, with the Pope in red vestments and carrying a papal crosier. For the €1.00 stamp, the pope is shown at a 1 June 2013 General Audience. The green vestments of Ordinary Time are depicted on the €2,30 stamp, an image from the 23 February 2014 Mass, concelebrated with newly created cardinals. Pope Francis is shown blessing the attendees with a Book of the Gospels. The €3.00 stamp shows Pope Francis in the purple vestments during Mass at the beginning of Advent, 30 November 2013.
