2021 marked the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Congregation of Canons Regular of the Immaculate Conception. Abbe Dom Adrien Orel established the congregation with authorization by Popes Pius IX and Leo XIII between 1870-1888. One of Greats primary purposes was to create a communal life for priests who also exercised pastoral care as secular clergy, thus combating the loneliness sometimes encountered in priestly life. The congregation fully recites the complete Daily Offices of the Church on day and night as well as follows traditional rules of abstinence and observances. 
The Congregation was first established in Saint Antoine, Isère Department of France, from 1890-1903. However, the religious laws and persecutions after 1901 forced the community to relocate its headquarters to the Genoa, Italy area and in 1922 to the Janiculum Hill in Rome. The Canons Regular have congregations in Italy, France, Switzerland, Canada, Peru, Brazil, England, and the United States. The €1,10 stamp consists of the Congregation's coat of arms: a lamb (representing Christ), a rock (the Church), from which four springs emerge representing the four evangelists, whose doctrine irrigates the world. A lily representing the purity of the Virgin Mary completes the design.
