</center> 			 			 Radio Vaticana is the official broadcasting service of Vatican City. Established in 1931 by Guglielmo Marconi, today its programs are offered in 47 languages, and are sent out on short wave, DRM, medium wave, FM, satellite and the Internet. Since its inception, Vatican Radio has been maintained by the Jesuit Order. Vatican Radio preserved its independence during the rise of Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany. Today, programming is produced by over 200 journalists located in 61 countries. Vatican Radio produces more than 42,000 hours of simultaneous broadcasting covering international news, religious celebrations, in-depth programs, and music. 
On 27 June 2015, Pope Francis, in a motu proprio apostolic letter, established the Secretariat for Communications in the Roman Curia, which absorbed Vatican Radio effective 1 January 2017, ending the organization's 85 years of independent operation. 
L'Osservatore Romano (The Roman Observer), founded in 1861, is the daily newspaper of Vatican City State which reports on the activities of the Holy See and events taking place in the Catholic Church and the world. It is owned by the Holy See but is not an official publication, a role reserved for the Acta Apostolicae Sedis, which acts as a government gazette. The views expressed in the Osservatore are those of individual authors unless they appear under the specific titles "Nostre Informazioni" or "Santa Sede". Available in nine languages, the paper prints two Latin mottos under the masthead of each edition: Unicuique suum ("To each his own") and Non praevalebunt ("[The gates of Hell] shall not prevail"). 		 			 			 			 			 			 			 			 			 			 			 			 2021 marked the 90th anniversary of Radio Vaticana and the 160th anniversary of the newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano. 
The Vatican issued a miniature sheet that contains a €1,15 stamp featuring the microphone first used in Radio Vaticana's first broadcast in 1931. The €2,40 stamp reproduces the front page of L'Osservatore Romano, founded in 1861. Archangel St. Gabriel, proclaimed in 1951 by Pope Pius XII as patron of Vatican Radio and Telecommunications, is situated on the left of the Miniature sheet. The stamps and statue are superimposed on a map showing the two hemispheres.
