<center> <img height='150px' src='https://vaticanstamps.org/VPS/images/296/298.jpg' > <img height='150px' src='https://vaticanstamps.org/VPS/images/296/299.jpg' > <img height='150px' src='https://vaticanstamps.org/VPS/images/296/300.jpg' > <br> <b>Saint Meinrad: 11th Centenary of Death<br> St. Meinrad, Our Lady of Einsiedeln, and Monastery at Einsiedeln<br> Scott 298-300 (1961)</b><br> </center><br> January 21 marks the feast day of St. Meinrad of Einsiedeln, a hermit and martyr who lived in the 8th and 9th centuries. <br><br> The VPS Website Team is fortunate to get periodic notes from VPS member Patrick Moore, who resides in Bonn, Germany. Patrick shares his insights and perspectives on our Daily Emails and Page 2 entries, providing a unique view of things due to his time spent on the European continent. <br><br> Last year, he shared the following comment on the Daily Email on Saint Meinrad: <br> <blockquote><i>I enjoyed today's article, as always. The place name Einsiedeln comes from Einsiedler, which means hermit. Literally it means one who lives alone. The place and the monastery thus took their names from the work of St. Meinrad there.</i></blockquote> Thanks once again to Patrick for his contributions to VPS.
