Start‑Up & Shutdown Instructions (Portable Edition)
Where SIS Can Run From
SIS can run from either location depending on how it was installed:
• Option A – Run SIS from the Memory Stick
Plug in the VPS‑SIS memory stick and open the folder named VPS‑SIS.
• Option B – Run SIS from Your Hard Disk
If you installed SIS on your computer, open the folder where you placed it (for example C:\VPS‑SIS or D:\VPS‑SIS).
Important:
• SIS must be run from a folder named VPS‑SIS.
• The file sisserver.exe must be inside that folder.
• If SIS does not start, your security software may be blocking it.

Starting SIS
Step 1 – Open the VPS‑SIS Folder
Locate the folder named VPS‑SIS on your memory stick or hard disk.

Step 2 – Run SIS Server
Double‑click sisserver.exe.
Important:
• Only double‑click sisserver.exe.
• Do NOT click the file named “sisserver” without the .exe extension.
• If you do not see sisserver.exe, turn on file extensions in Windows Explorer.
• If the .exe is still missing, your security software may have blocked or renamed it. Add the SIS folder to your security program’s whitelist and re‑copy the SIS ZIP file.
If Windows shows a “Windows protected your PC” message:
• Click More info
• Then click Run anyway
SIS will start and a small black window will appear.

If SIS does not start or disappears instantly:
PC Matic, Norton, McAfee, Bitdefender, Trend Micro, Avast/AVG, Kaspersky, Webroot.
Add the VPS‑SIS folder and sisserver.exe to your security program’s whitelist.

SIS uses port 8080. If another program is using this port, SIS cannot start.
To check:
1. Press Windows Key + R
2. Type cmd and press Enter
3. Type:

Make sure you are opening the correct VPS‑SIS folder (USB or hard disk).

4 – Check for Windows “Protected Your PC” Message

If SIS still does not start after these checks, your security software is almost certainly blocking it.
Add the SIS folder to your whitelist and try again.
Opening SIS in Your Browser
Step 3 – Open SIS
Open Edge, Chrome, or Firefox and type:
http://localhost:8080
Press Enter — the SIS home screen will load.

If SIS does not appear, make sure sisserver.exe is running and that you typed the address correctly.
Step 4 – Use the System
Browse dashboards, reports, and galleries. Your inventory saves automatically.

Shutting Down SIS
Step 5 – Close the Server
On the SIS index screen, click Shutdown SIS Server.
Wait for the message “SIS is shutting down…”.

Close your browser and safely eject the memory stick.
