Answer
Detail Answer
The Vatican Gallery Of Maps was built between 1578 and 1580 by Otaviano Mascherino. In 1580 Pope Gregory VII commissioned Ignazio Danti to paint 40 topographical maps on the walls. Later Giriamo Muziana and Cesare Nebbia co-ordinated work by a group of artists that added various paintings on the history of the church and lives of various saints. This is one of the primary galleries in the Vatican Museum that most people pass through on their way to the Sistine Chapel.
