Answer
Detail Answer
Pope Sixtus V did many things. He was a defender of attacks by the Protestant reformers, excommunicated both Queen Elizabeth I of England and King Henry IV of France (according to Wikipedia). Sixtus V enforced the decrees of the Council of Trent and restructured the papal secretariat. During his reign, the Lateran Palace was rebuilt and the dome of St. Peter's was completed.
On January 22, 1988, the Vatican Post Office has a special postmark marking the 400th anniversary of the issuance by Pope Sixtus V of his bull on the Immensity of the Eternal God. This was on the 25th anniversary of the Council of Trent. The bull established 15 permanent congregations of the Church. One is long gone, the infamous Congregation of the Inquisition. Others still exist, including Establishment of Churches, Appointment of Bishops, and the Vatican Press.
In 2021, the Vatican Post Office issued two stamps to commemorate the fifth centenary of Pope Sixtus V 's birth.
