Option 4
Answer
Detail Answer
The 1800 and 1850 Holy Years were not held because the French army had come to town. Napoleon invaded the Papal States in 1799. Pope Pius VI died in 1799 (in France) and Pope Pius VII continued to have Napoleonic problems until Napoleon was defeated in1814. Thus the 1800 Holy Year was not held.
The 1825 Holy Year was held under Pope Leo XII.
However, there were additional political situations that caused Pope Pius IX to leave Rome in 1848 and go to the Kingdom of Naples. Therefore, the 1850 Holy Year was not celebrated. Pope Pius IX did express concerns about holding the 1875 Holy Year but did proceed with it.
