Answer
Detail Answer
The Apostleship of the Sea, a Catholic port ministry, was developed in Scotland in 1920.
Two years later Pope Pius XI encouraged extending ministries and supporting seafarers worldwide. They provide practical and pastoral care to all seafarers, regardless of nationality, belief or race. Port chaplains and volunteer ship visitors welcome seafarers, offer welfare services and advice, practical help, care and friendship. The Blessed Virgin Mary is the patron of The Apostleship of the Sea.
