 The 2024 Vatican aerogram commemorates the 750th anniversary of the death of Saint Bonaventure of Bagnoregio (1221–1274), a Franciscan theologian and Doctor of the Church. The aerogram, issued on November 4, 2024, features a €2.45 stamp depicting a fresco portrait of the saint by Beato Angelico, located in the Niccoline Chapel of the Vatican Museums. The imprint on the aerogram reproduces a detail from Raphael’s fresco The Disputation of the Sacrament, where Saint Bonaventure is shown among the Church’s great theologians and scholars. This choice emphasizes Bonaventure’s intellectual legacy and his role in shaping Trinitarian theology and the relationship between philosophy and divine revelation. To further honor the occasion, a special circular postmark (diameter 38 mm) was created, graphically inspired by a 15th-century portrait of the saint by Domenico di Michelino, housed in the Convent of Santa Croce in Florence. The postmark includes the inscriptions: 750° ANNIVERSARIO DELLA MORTE DI S. BONAVENTURA, POSTE VATICANE, and DIE EMISSIONIS 04.11.2024.
