The Daily Question

Since the formation of the Vatican State in 1929,
the Vatican has issued sets of stamps known as the 'Interregnum Issue'.

What does 'Interregnum' symbolize?

The process of being declared a Saint
The opening of the Vatican Council
An interval between two successive reigns when the state has no sovereign
The travels of the Pope to other countries

Your answer was: An interval between two successive reigns when the state has no sovereign.
You are correct!!

Answer: 'Interregnum' is the interval between two successive reigns, when the state has no sovereign. It is the period of time when a Pope dies and another Pope is elected to succeed him. It is a time when there is a temporary suspension of the usual functions performed by a Pope.
