The Daily Question

What image is displayed on each of the 10 stamps of the 1959 Vatican Airmails?

   Basilicas
   Angels
   Obelisks
   Popes

Your answer was: Obelisks.
You are correct!!

Answer: Obelisks which rise in front of famous basilicas were displayed on each of the 10 stamps.

Of particular interest is that the 15£ and the 100£ depict the obelisk of St Peter's with the Apostolic Palace in the background as it appears late at night. The ray of light from the window of the Palace is the location of the Papal apartment where Pope Pius XII worked until the early hours of the morning.
