Answer: The tomb of Galileo Galilei (1564 – 1642), is buried at the Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence. The tomb was erected in 1737 and is directly across from the tomb of Michelangelo. Galileo was known for his contributions to astronomy and the champion of the thinking that the earth rotates daily and revolves around the sun.
