Your answer was: Katherine Drexel. |
Answer: Gianna Beretta Molla (1922 – 1962) is the patron saint of mothers and pre-born children. She was known to be an excellent surgeon and pediatrician and worked to help teenage girls. While pregnant with her fourth child, she found out that there were problems. She refused an abortion and a hysterectomy knowing that continuing with the pregnancy could result in her death, which it did. Molla's beatification was celebrated in 1994 and she was canonized as a saint in mid-2004 by Pope John Paul II. In 1996, the Vatican Post Office issued a stamp in her honor as part of the famous women series. See: • 1996 UFN Bulletin Europe 1996 - Famous Women
