The Daily Question

There are two artistic staircases in the Pio-Clementine Museum, of the Vatican Museum. What designer are they attributed to?

   Leonardo da Vinci
   Donato Bramante
   Michelangelo Buonarroti
   Gian Lorenzo Bernini

Your answer was: Donato Bramante.
You are correct!!

Answer: Donato Bramante designed the original Bramante staircase, a double helix design in the Pio-Clementine Museum, that was built in 1505. The modern double helix staircase, built in 1932, also in the Pio-Clementine Museum, is also referred to as the "Bramante Staircase" because it was inspired by the design of the original Bramante Staircase. The modern staircase was designed by Giuseppe Momo, sculpted by Antonio Maraini, and realized by the Ferdinando Marinelli Artistic Foundry.
