Answer: Francesco Forgione (1887-1968) aka Padre Pio, also known as Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, saw guardian angels and assumed other people could see them too. He was a devout Italian Franciscan friar, priest, stigmatist, and mystic. Beatified in 1999, he was canonized June 16, 2002 by Pope John Paul II.
