Your answer was: Basilica of Aquileia. |
Answer: The Basilica of Aquileia celebrated the 2200th anniversary of the foundation of the city of Aquileia and was of religious importance in spreading Christianity into central Europe. Aquileia was one of the largest and wealthiest cities of the early Roman Empire and most of it still lies beneath the ground, unexcavated. What makes The Patriarchal Basilica so special is the enormous mosaic floor. It is huge, stretching out over the whole main building, and measures about 750 square meters. It was created in the 4th century and is the western world’s largest Early Christian mosaic.
