Answer: Inside the basilica of St. Maria Maggiore in Rome, is the Crypt of the Nativity or Bethlehem Crypt, where there is a crystal reliquary located under the high altar. The reliquary was, designed by Giuseppe Valadier and contains wood from the Holy Crib of the nativity of Jesus Christ. The four boards of sycamore wood are believed to have supported the crib used by Christ and were brought to Rome by Pope Theodore (640-649) from the Holy Land.
