Answer: St. Peter's has the six bells that were cast by Luigi Valadier in 1786 and blessed by Pius VI in the same year. They were run manually until the late 1920s. The largest of the bells - campanone has a diameter of 2.50 meters, a height of 2.60 meters, measuring 7.5 meters in circumference and weighing about 11 tons. (Note: one reference gave the weight at 10 tons, the other at 11 tons. Pick your choice!)
