Answer: Aside from the depiction of the Holy Family on stamps, the first Vatican City stamp with St Joseph as the specific subject was issued February 22, 2021. A philatelic souvenir sheet reproduces the mosaic of St Joseph, Patron of the Church, located in the Relics Chapel of St Peter's Basilica. The mosaic was created in 1892 by F. L. Campanili, based on a design by painter F. Grandi.

Pope Francis proclaimed the year of St Joseph to be celebrated from December 8, 2020 to December 8, 2021. The Pope announced this commemoration in his Apostolic Letter, Patris Corde, "to increase our love for this great saint, to encourage us to implore his intercession and to imitate his virtues and his zeal."
