Answer: Publius Vergilius Maro, known as Virgil, was the most famous ancient Roman poet of the Augustan period. His most famous poems in Latin literature are the Eclogues (or Bucolics), the Georgics, and the epic Aeneid. The Eclogues describes some of the beauties of Italy, the Georgics describes the art of farming and rural life, and the Aeneid describes the formation of Rome. St Ambrose, St Jerome, and St Augustine were influenced by Virgil's writing style and wisdom.
