Answer: A Eucharistic Congress is a gathering to honor Jesus Christ in the Eucharist thru public celebration of the Mass, reception of Holy Communion, and Benedictions. The Pontifical Committee for International Eucharistic Congresses was established in 1879 by Pope Leo XIII. The first International Eucharistic Congress was held at Lille, France, on June 21, 1881. Presently, an International Eucharistic Congress is held every four years. In 1964 Vatican Post Office issued four stamps to commerate Pope Paul VI's travels to India to attend the 38th Eucharistic Congress.
