Answer: On March 17th 1805, Napoleon crowned himself the 'King of Italy' in the cathedral in Milan. Napoleon’s Kingdom of Italy included the broader area of Milan (next to France), Bologna, Venice, and the Po Valley as well as parts of the Apennines all of which were owned by the French.
