Your answer was: St Nicholas of Bari.
You are correct!!

Answer: St Nicholas of Bari is most widely known as the patron saint of children. He was of Greek descent from the maritime city of Myra in Asia Minor and was born around 270 AD and died about 343 AD. St Nicholas is said to have kept three girls of poverty from being forced into prostitution by dropping a sack of gold coins through the window of their house each night for three nights so their father could pay a dowry for each of them. The story is told that without a dowry, these girls would remain unmarried and probably, in absence of any other possible employment, would have been forced to become prostitutes. The scene of Nicholas's secret gift-giving is one of the most popular scenes in Christian devotional art, appearing in icons and frescoes from across Europe and as shown in Vatican Stamp 804 pictured below. There are other stories of St Nicholas rescuing children from calamity and returning them to the care and keeping of their families. Saint Nicholas is also traditionally associated with the festival of Christmas.
