Your answer was: Canonization. |
Answer: Canonization is the final declaration of a deceased person as an officially recognized saint, specifically, the official act of a Christian communion declaring a person worthy of public veneration and entering their name in the canon catalogue of Saints. Popes began making such decrees in the tenth century. Five new Saints were canonized on March 12,1622 by Pope Gregory XV, making this the first group canonization. 1. Isidore, a farmer from Madrid devoted to charity and prayer; 2. Sister Teresa of Avila, reformed the Carmelite Orders of both women and men; 3. Philip Neri, a Christian missionary and founder of the Congregation of the Oratory; 4. Ignatius Layola, the co-founder of the Society of Jesus; 5. Francis Xavier, the co-founder of the Society of Jesus. 'What Are the Steps to Becoming a Saint?' on UniversalLifeChurch.org.
