The Daily Question

To improve the health-related quality of life for people with
musculoskeletal disorders throughout the world, what did the
World Health Organization declare the period of 2000 to 2010 as?

   Cartilage and Bone Tissue Decade
   Musculoskeletal Disorder Decade
   Bone and Joint Decade
   Global Burden of Disease Decade

Your answer was: Bone and Joint Decade.
You are correct!!

Answer: The World Health Organization declared the period 2000 to 2010 the Bone and Joint Decade. This is indeed timely and appropriate. Hundreds of millions of people in the world are beset with a host of disabilities caused by trauma, ageing and degeneration and other affections of the Musculo-Skeletal system. With the state of art of orthopedic surgery and rheumatology, sufferers of bone and joint disabilities have benefited a great deal from advances in pharmacology, newer techniques of imaging, surgery and man-made materials to replace diseased or damaged bone and cartilage.

The Philatelic Office of Vatican City took this unique opportunity to bring global and governmental attention to bear of the importance of bone and joint diseases with the issue of this aerogramme.
