Answer: Pope Benedict XVI is praying in front of the tomb of the apostle Paul, beneath the main altar of the Roman basilica of Saint Paul's Outside the Walls. It is the vigil of the solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul. He inaugurated a special jubilee year dedicated to the apostle Paul known as the 'Pauline Year'. Pope Benedict XVI explained the event to the faithful gathered in St Peter's Square before the Angelus on the feast of Saints Peter and Paul.

The 'Pauline Year', which began on June 28, 2008 lasted until June 29, 2009. The occasion was the 2,000th anniversary of the birth of the apostle, which historians place at between 7 and 10 A.D.
