How many women are buried inside Saint Peter's Basicila?

   none
   three
   five
   eight

Your answer was: three.
You are correct!!

Answer: There are only three women whose resting place is inside Saint Peter’s Basilica, Christina Queen of Sweden (1626-1689)patron of arts and music, Matilda of Canossa (or of Tuscany, 1046-1115), a member of the powerful Italian clan of House of Canossa, and the pious Polish princess Maria Clementina Sobieska (1702-1735).

While only three women are buried inside Saint Peter’s Basilica, the Church and the Vatican Post Office have not been shy about honoring women. There are many examples that could be cited. For example, In 1975 a set of two stamps was issued to commemorate the International Woman's Year which was first designated by the United Nations (UN). The UN organized the International Woman's Year to call attention to a world conference in Mexico City to advance women’s rights around the world. The Vatican supported this effort by issuing these stamps. The two Vatican stamps, issued to honor women, were based on a painting detail taken from a Fra Angelo painting which is in the Chapel of Nicholas V in the Vatican Museum.
