Answer: Juana Enriqueta Josefina de los Sagrados Corazones Fernández y Solar was born in 1900 in Santiago in Chile into an upper-class family In 1919, at the age of 19, Juana entered the novitiate of the Discalced Carmelite nuns in the township of Los Andes and given the name Teresa of Jesus. Sister Teresa began an apostolate of letter-writing, sharing her thoughts on the spiritual life with many people. She soon contracted typhus and died on April 5, 1920 at a young age.

St. Teresa remained popular with pilgrims visiting her relics each year, especially women and young people. Pilgrims came to the convent to venerate the young girl whose holiness was known even to those who had never met her. Devotion to her grew as more and more people reported graces from her intercessions.Teresa was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1993, the first canonized saint of Chile.
